Market Research For Paid Advertising.

In the process to analyze a market and search for a product to sell, you will have to evaluate carefully two things:

1. How much competition you will face?
2. What is the quality of your competition?

Suppose you found an attractive product for a market that actually is buying similar things, let's say a tool for SEO. SEO is the acronym of "Search Engine Optimization" and is the field of people that are experts putting websites at #1 position in the search engines.

It will be a market suicide to try to compete with this people promoting your product through the free search engine results. They are the best of the best of the world at getting traffic from the search engines and better you promote your product by other means.

To take a look at the competition in paid advertising, just make a search on the phrase you are targeting, and see the results at the right.

Also, the bolded results at the top left are paid. You get there typically when you make Google the most money (this is a combination of a very good ad that is clicked wildly plus paying a decent amount per click).

You have just took a look, but you can know for sure how much is paying the one that is getting the top position going to the Overture Bid Tool.

At the time of this writing, the first position is for www.mycomputer.com and the website owner pays 7 bucks a click to stay there. Normally you make a sale after 100 visits, then this site is willing to pay a lot for every sale. Keep in mind also that your site must be prepared to convert people into buyers very well before you start paying such high amount because you could end up losing money very quickly.

¿How Savvy Is You Competition?

There are some signs of that "your will be competitors" are savvy internet marketers or not. You should look at these things:

1. The page asks for an email address?

Once an email is captured, you can follow up this customer for a long period of time reducing your advertising costs, so any page that ask for an email address in fact is somewhat optimized on the follow up process.

2. The page has sales copy?

A sales copy looks like a personal letter describing the benefits of the product in such compelling way that you are urged to buy it, and buy it now! Savvy marketers don't try to sale a product without a sales letter.

If you find these signs, then you can expect very tough competition because you are facing expert marketers. But don't discourage, as the market is huge and you can find your way to make money.
